Matt's isn't trying to be anything it isn't. There's no dress code, no velvet rope, and no bartender who's going to ask if you'd like to hear about our botanicals. There's a long wooden bar, twenty-some drafts, walls covered floor-to-ceiling in forty years of photographs, and a band playing from the balcony over your head.
Ranchers, tourists, bikers, Embry-Riddle students, and folks who've been sitting on the same stool since the Carter administration all end up here, faithfully returning year after year. Matt's is Prescott's living room, and the door's open seven days a week.

Two Bartenders Turned Owners
Matt Brassard and Marco Espitia were pulling drafts behind this bar in the early 2000s. Matt had come out from Vermont to study at Embry-Riddle, hoping to become a pilot. Marco was a seventh-generation Prescottonian who’d studied architecture, then interior design, and wasn’t done deciding.
Both were born entrepreneurs, and soon they talked the owners into letting them sublease the upstairs, remodeled it themselves, and opened Doc Holiday’s in May of 2002. Matt was 22. Marco was 24. Then Matt’s Saloon itself came up for sale, and they bought the bar they’d been working at. Now they also own Whiskey & Ivory.
